The Hofburg is another highlight, the famous residence of Empress Elizabeth, affectionately known as Sisi to the Austrians. Plus you'll see a host of other fine buildings, including the Parliament, City Hall, the Burg heater, the University and the Votive Church. Your tour ends by the Südtiroler Platz, approximately a 10-minute walk from the city centre. After breakfast, leaving Vienna and travel in a comfortable vehicle to the country’s best winemaking region, the Wachau Valley for a fully guided tour. Renowned for its quality wines, stunning villages and breathtaking scenery, it is the perfect place to enjoy a day away from the city. Arrive in the UNESCO-listed Dürnstein – a picturesque medieval town famous for being where Richard the Lion heart was held captive in 1192. There, enjoy some free time to explore the streets and the castle ruins. Then, go to the Domäne Wachau, and sample 5 great wines to warm up your pallet for a day of tasting. Enjoy chocolate, jam and liquor tastings, and sample goodies produced from local stone fruits, including gapricot brand, and apple cinnamon liquor. You will then explore the town of Weissenkirchen and one of its local wine taverns. There, you will enjoy free time for lunch (not included).Continue your tour with visits to some familial wine taverns. Visit the wine cellar of Jamek Winery, a quaint place filled with rustic charm. Tour the cellar, showcasing a 450-year-old oak press, and taste wine and schnapps made using traditional methods.
