Accommodation:
Of the five suites in Peepal Kothi, there are two that flank a narrow path ahead of the Peepal Tree beyond the entrance. And the rest of the three suites are at the situated at the far side of the estate. Each of the suites have a name which is gently reflected in the art and artefacts that adorn the room. So you have Malabar, Patiala and Awadh suites with a verandah sit-out skirting the suites with access to the gardens and private sitting spaces. The two individual suites are independent cottages with private verandah and generous sit-outs. All suites have ensuite bathrooms with fragrant and quality bath amenities and linen. Rooms are large and high, with large windows bringing in large doses of light and nature. The cottages are all air-conditioned with in-room facilities like a tea/ coffee station, writing desk, comfortable couches.
Service & Amenities :
Though Orangery is the main dining that also doubles up as a conference / board room on occasion, a definite highlight of Peepal Kothi, weather permitting ( read winters ) is to sit outside and feast on hand patted ‘rotis’ or wake up to tea and biscuits amidst hearty birdsong. A swimming pool is in planning stages but the long and undulating lawns provide space for children and adults alike.
A’wow’some Features :
Small, special and put together with personal attention to detail, Peepal Kothi is the farm home you would want for yourself. The best part of Peepal Kothi is its accessibility to Delhi and the possibility of having a farm house exclusively for your use. To spend a winter day here with women from the village slow cooking ‘saag’ , grinding chutneys on stone and rolling rotis of wheat, maize and millets by hand is to go back to family vacations in our native villages.
The ‘MECH’ review:
Not more than an hour from South Delhi and right after Manesar are farm lands close to the Classic Golf Course, Peepal Kothi is right here. Centered around the shaded environs of a few hundred trees of citrus, tangerine, laburnum and ficus. A generous Peepal tree welcomes you at the gate and hence the name. Two large cottages and one cottage with three bedrooms being the inventory, Peepal Kothi is perfect for short family outings, overnights or a core team off-site. With a manager onsite and help from nearby villages who take care of the kitchen, housekeeping and the gardens, Peepal Kothi beautifully engages in the concept of slow and local food by bringing in women from the village to cook for you right there. They will also on demand challenge your love for Rotis, while they pat them thin with their bare hands and pick them off wooden fires with a chunk of fresh white butter and chutney.
Peepal Kothi is beautiful in winter and even better in the rains. For Inbound travelers on an agenda, it is recommended that you check in to be the host and make it a complete experience. However Vijay Choudhury, who is not new to travel industry having served years with ITC, may on request and availability play host as well.
Things you should know : The two independent suites – Dak Bungalow and Port House are premium cottages. Peepal Kothi is also ideal for day outings and off-sites. The farm will be closed for the summer months of May and June.
