Darjeeling, a visual delight
Day 01: Bagdogra/NJP –Darjeeling
Assistance at the airport/station on arrival and from there, you proceed to Darjeeling. Check in to the hotel, rest of the day is free for leisure activities. Darjeeling conjures images of snow peaks, lush green tea estates, a land of breathtaking beauty crowned by the majestic Himalayas. Overnight at hotel.
Day 02: Darjeeling
Early in the morning, visit Tiger Hill to see a beautiful sunrise and Himalayan Range like Kanchenjunga, Mount Everest etc. One can see the horizon changing colors just before sunrise and then the entire Himalayan range turns golden. This dazzling sunrise and the snow covered peaks of the entire eastern Himalayan range is mesmerizing to say the least but again, this is only possible on a clear day. A foggy day can mar the whole visit. You also visit the Ghoom Monastery which is the oldest Monastery there. Breakfast savoured at the hotel and proceed for city tour visiting Himalayan Mountaineering Institute(closed on Thursday) which was started by Tenzing Norgay after he climbed Mt. Everest, Zoological Park(closed on Thursday), Tibetan Refugee Centre(closed on Sunday), Tenzing Rock, Gob Rock and Happy Valley Tea Estate(from outside). Overnight at hotel.
Day 03: Darjeeling – Gangtok
Have breakfast at the hotel and drive to Gangtok. Gangtok is a cosmopolitan town that offers a tourist all possible amenities. On arrival, check in to the hotel, later proceed for city tour visiting Rumtek Monastery, Do Drul Chorten, Namgyal Institute of Tibetology (closed on Sundays), Cottage Industry (closed on Sundays) and Flower Show Complex. Overnight at hotel.
Day 04: Gangtok
After breakfast, full day excursion to Tsomgo Lake which is 35 Kms from Gangtok and at an altitude of 12,400 feet. The lake derives its waters from melting snows of the surrounding mountains. Legends say that lamas could forecast the future by studying the color of the lake’s waters; also visit Baba Mandir. Overnight at hotel.
Day 05: Gangtok - Kalimpong
After breakfast, drive to Kalimpong; in the afternoon, proceed for city tour visiting Zang Dog Palri Fo Brang Monastery, Mangal Dham and flower nurseries. Overnight at hotel.
Day 06: Kalimpong – Bagdogra/NJP
After breakfast, on time departure transfer to Airport/Railway station for your onward destination.
